Thomas "Kevyn" Kirven is an educator who believes in the power of words and the transformative impact of education. With a passion for English Language Arts (ELA) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Mr. Kirven has dedicated his career to helping students and teachers find their voices. As the District ELAR Instructional Coach for secondary schools at Harlandale ISD, he works closely with teachers to elevate classroom instruction and enhance student achievement. Whether through workshops, coaching sessions, or just a good conversation, Mr. Kirven thrives on connecting with educators and sparking new ideas.
With a Master of Arts in Education and English Literature from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Professional Writing from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Mr. Kirven has a strong academic background that complements his hands-on experience. He has worked across various educational settings, from secondary schools to higher education, focusing on curriculum development, instructional coaching, and creating engaging learning experiences for educators.
In addition to his role at Harlandale ISD, Mr. Kirven is an adjunct faculty member at Texas A&M San Antonio and San Antonio College, where he enjoys guiding future teachers and educators in developing dynamic and effective teaching practices. His approach emphasizes collaboration, innovative strategies, and a deep commitment to improving literacy practices.
