Biography

Sam is a Lecturer of English and Assistant Director of the Writing, Language, and Digital Composing Center. He is from Corpus Christi, Texas, and has called San Antonio home for the past 5 years. He received his B.A. in English and Philosophy and M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Sam has worked in writing centers for the past 9 years and enjoys being a part of a team that provides support for students within all facets of their academic career. Sam has taught ENGL 1301/1301L: Composition I, ENGL 1302: Composition II, and ENGL 1300: Integrated Reading and Writing, as well as the Jaguar Jumpstart and Jaguar Accelerate courses for Integrated Reading and Writing. His scholarship explores writing center and composition pedagogy and praxis, focusing on the practices writing programs can use to foster belonging and active engagement for underserved,underrepresented students.
