Sean Elias

Over the past twenty years, I have taught at a number of universities and am now teaching sociology online as an adjunct for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Texas A&M San Antonio, and Ashland Universitys Correctional Education Program. My research focus is on US racism, black American intellectual and cultural traditions, and the sociology of elites. I am the lead author with Joe Feagin of Racial Theories in Social Science: A Systemic Racism Critique (Routledge, 2016), a book that provides a critique of the ways that mainstream social sciences have explained racial realities. I also serve as editor of the States and Politics section of the Routledge Encyclopedia of Race and Racism and am a member of the Editorial Board of Social Problems.
