Sara McAndrew


 

Biography

 

Dr. Sara McAndrew has been an educator for over 50 years.  She left Hillsboro, Texas, where she was born and educated in a family filled with teaches.  Dr. McAndrew earned four degrees at the university level and spent her career as a teacher, administrator, and district leader.  While teaching in Gatesville, Sonora, Medina Valley, and Northside, she pursued another career whiich was teaching in higher education settings. like the Alamo Community Colleges, Trinity University, UTSA, and more.  She will tell you her passion is teaching and working with educators at all levels. Joining TAMUSA to work with beginning educators is her passion.

Dr. McAndrew recently left Southwest ISD where she served for nine years as an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and led the Administation/Human Resource Division of the District.  Her most recent work was in the position of Executive Director of Teacherrs New to Teaching.  In this position, Dr. McAndrew worked for five years to create and implement innovative programs designed to support teachers who were brand new to teaching through extreme personalization and face-to-face leadership coaching.  Joining the faculty at Texas A&M San Antonio and working with their innovative Education Programs and students is a new and exciting venture in her career.
