Biography

Im  Sahan Ahmad, and I completed the doctoral program in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  Ive three years of work experience as a software engineer and performed the technical lead position of managing five software engineers for one year.  Currently, Im working as an assistant professor at Texas A&M University, San Antonio.

One of my major research works is to optimize the training of the deep learning model. I can save up to 30%~70% of the computational time without losing accuracy to any deep learning model that uses convolution operation. My other work outperformed an algorithm developed by a team at Google.

Over the last five semesters, I trained twenty-six undergrad students in Machine Learning and involved them in the ongoing projects in the lab. Im co-supervising and assisting two Ph.D. students in their thesis.
