Dr. Diaz graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Ph.D. in English. Her research focuses on the intersections of language and art, with emphasis on the analysis of written Mexican Spanish. She obtained her B.A. in Political Science and her M.A. in Communication from The University of Texas at El Paso.
