Dr. Matthew Bishop is a highly active performer, scholar, and educator. In concerts across the country he has offered audiences a wide range of music on guitar and lute from the 11th century to newly-composed works. He has frequently been broadcast on radio and television, including Wisconsin Public Radios Live from the Chazen concert series. Dr. Bishop joined the faculty at Texas A&M University-San Antonio in the fall of 2025 and also serves as Personnel Manager for the San Antonio Philharmonic. Previously he taught for 16 years at Laredo College as Professor of Music/Guitar. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and both Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
