Julie Ashton Riedel is a Professor in Residence in partnership with the Institute for School and Community Partnerships (ISCP) through the College of Education an Human Development at Texas A&M San Antonio and the Cast Network in San Antonio, Texas. In this role, she provides sustained campus- based support to develop clinical teachers to become effective novice teachers.
The partnerships focues on a maximum year long clinical teaching for students that creates a supportive learning experience for future teachers that tend to recruit more diverse teaching candidates who are more likely to stay in the field and have stronger student outcomes. Clear connections between the university curriculum and the implementation of the content in the classroom are mde in this model, teaching strategies that can be used in the classroom.
Julie Ashton Riedel is no stranger to work of teaching and mentoring as she was an administrator for 10 years prior to joining teh A&M-SA. She also was a teacher for 24 years. These experiences have devloped her own knowledge in which she is able to utilize to support students as they work within their clinical teaching experiences.
Julie Ashton Riedel holds a Masters degree in Administration from Trinity University, and a Masters degree in Education from Texas State University. She graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a Bacherlor's in Elementary Education.
