Esther Garza


Dr. Esther Garza is a Professor of Bilingual and ESL Education and Chair of the Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA). Dr. Garza has worked in higher education for over 22 years and was a bilingual teacher for 10 years.  Dr. Garza offers teacher preparation and multicultural courses and is the lead faculty for math and science bilingual methods, assessment for Emergent Bilinguals, and multilingual and multicultural education at A&M-SA.  

Her particular focus of research includes bilingual teacher preparation, science education for Emergent Bilinguals, STREAM education for dual language education and biliteracy development. Dr. Garza has published internationally, nationally, state and locally on these research topics.
