Dr. Alexandra Rodríguez Sabogal (Vanderbilt University) is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Dr. Rodríguez Sabogal’s work explores the intersection of nation, gender, and religiosity in twenty-first-century Latin American literary and cultural production, with a particular focus on literature that amplifies the needs and demands of women’s movements in the region. As part of her research agenda, Dr. Rodríguez Sabogal has published articles in academic journals such as Chasqui, Afro-Hispanic Review, Journal of Gender and Sexuality Studies / Revista de Estudios de Género y Sexualidades, Hispania, The Latin Americanist, and Studies in Spanish & Latin American Cinemas andSpanish as a Heritage Language. Dr. Rodriguez is currently working on her monograph, Devotions of Dissent: Religiosity and Sex Work in Latin American Literature
Dr. Rodriguez is the proud recipient of an AAUW Research Publication Grant (2025) and an Individual Research Grant from the American Academy of Religion (2024)
